Good Dental Care Starts at Home
Though many parents wait until permanent teeth come in, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends taking a child to the dentist just after their first birthday. Studies show that the sooner parents get their kids involved in daily habits of good dental care, the better. It’s also important not to lose baby teeth too soon. They play a vital role in making sure that permanent teeth come in on time and straight. When baby teeth are lost prematurely, the neighboring teeth will move around trying to fill the spaces. This can lead to braces for some children.
Parents can have such a big influence on their kids and how children react to the dentist. Help your children develop positive attitudes about seeing the dentist and caring for their teeth. By teaching your kids to brush and floss at an early age, you can help ensure a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
