A Child’s First Visit
An enjoyable first visit to see the dentist is the best way to build trust between your child and the dentist. It’s important to let your child know that Dr. Goins will explain everything as he goes along and that he is there to make sure all teeth are healthy and strong.
In many cases, the first trip to visit the dentist is to educate the parents and get the child accustomed to our office. Parents often have questions about when to start brushing, fluoride treatments, whether sippy cups and juice are harmful to teeth and the use of pacifiers.
Great Care Starts at Home
Dr. Goins and his team know that learning the proper way to brush and floss is important in order for kids to have great oral health. A lifetime of good dental health begins during those first years when children are so impressionable. Dr. Goins will teach your children how to properly care for teeth and parents should make a habit of helping their kids develop a good habit of brushing and flossing daily.

Caring for Your Child’s Teeth
Many parents wait until permanent teeth come in before taking their child to see the dentist. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends taking kids to the dentist soon after their first birthday. When baby teeth are lost prematurely, it can cause other teeth to move around trying to fill the space, which can later lead to braces, so it’s important to keep baby teeth healthy until it’s time for them to come out.
